At a recent board meeting, community member Betsy Braden went further, labeling the plan as a 'Trojan horse meant to destroy public schools.'
And this is the part most people miss: the new rules enabling these co-locations won't take effect until October 28, raising questions about the timing and legitimacy of Mater's proposals. Despite this, the academy has already identified numerous potential sites, including 16 schools in Pinellas County, three in Sarasota, and two in Manatee. Hillsborough County's Adum K-8 Magnet School is also on the list, prompting Principal Scott Weaver to reassure parents that no decisions have been made and that he's actively working to increase enrollment to deter any co-location attempts.
